Sabrina Carpenter’s Controversial Performance Sparks Backlash as Hundreds Lodge Complaints. Clgt
Sabria Carpeпter has sparked outrage with her X-rated performance as critics are said to have lodged complaints.
‘Pop girls’ are back, critics say.
The rise of artists such as Chappell Roaп, Charli XCX, Tate McRae and Carpeпter is leading the trend.
Carpeпter was overpaid for her hit records, including ‘Espresso’ and ‘Please Please Please’, but also for her stage presence.
The 25-year-old has gone beyond her live performances, with a range of backdrops, dances and expensive expenses.
But Carpeпter’s performance at the BRIT Awards left some viewers horrified.
Sabrina Carpenter’s performance was criticised for being too sexy.
Taking to social media to discuss Carpeпter’s performance, one person said: “This is too much for the BRITs.
“She’s a role model for so many young girls and so sexy,” another commented.
A fourth wrote: “Sabria Carpenter has a beautiful voice and is a stunning woman. Why does she feel the need to spread her legs? It’s like watching a live sex movie. This is supposed to be a family show!”
“There’s a way to appropriately portray sex in music/performance but Sabria Carpenter is just disgusting and vulgar,” a fifth commented.

The BRIT Awards are a celebration of the UK’s music scene. This year, artists including Charli XCX, Raye, Chappell Roaп, Jade Thirlwall and Carpeпter won the Global Achievement award.
The ‘Feather’ singer took to the main stage at The O2 in London, attending the BRIT Awards in a glittering red military jacket.
She walked along the island of Venice waving a Union flag while performers dressed as the King’s Guard followed her.
After removing the military jacket team, Carpenter turned a shimmering red as she performed her hit ‘Bed Chem’.
The moment was particularly controversial when she appeared before a male actor, who glanced at the camera before Carpenter disappeared from the screen.
The performance aired before the 9pm time slot, marking the time when television can air content suitable for children.
A reported 825 complaints were made to Ofcom regarding Sabria Carpenter’s performance.
Following the daring performance, a reported 825 complaints were made to Ofcom (the Office for Communications), the government-approved competition and regulatory body for broadcasting and telecommunications in the UK.
The complaints alleged that the performance on a family-friendly awards show was inappropriate and that there should have been a clear power struggle beforehand.
An Ofcom spokesperson said (via BBC): “We are assessing complaints about the rules, but have not yet decided whether to investigate.”
Carpenter also responded to the backlash, writing on Instagram: “I don’t know what a twist is!!!!” alongside a series of photos from New Year’s Eve.
This isn’t the first time Carpenter has been criticised for her sexually explicit acting.
She previously faced backlash for imitating an X-rated act from her debut film Sweet Top.
