Welcome to The City of Chesterfield

Chesterfield is located just about 25 minutes west of downtown St. Louis, along the Interstate 64/U.S. Highway 40 corridor. Our city was formed in 1988 by citizens who cared deeply about the area and about the quality of life in the area.

We have peaceful residential neighborhoods, bustling shopping areas, beautifully designed business establishments, and well laid out parks and pathways. Our citizens have such a history of being involved in helping the city that we are known as the “City of Volunteers.”

Chesterfield Modeling Tutorial 3ds max

Its been a while since my last tutorial, but I wanted to share a modeling tutorial for a Chesterfield sofa ( capiton sofa) because I saw a lot of videotutorials out there that uses different approaches to this type of objects, so after thinking a lot, I decided to share my workflow, so maybe some artist could found it interesting and could learn something new.

Exploring Abandoned Hidden Royal Mail Farm Chesterfield Abandoned Places | Abandoned Places UK

Known as Manor Syck Farm it is a disused farm located in the area of Chesterfield. It was owned by farmer Sam Hadfield, who retired in 2005, spending the last years of his life in a care home and he passed away in 2008.

The farm, which consisted of two dwellings, stables, garages and other outbuildings, fell into a state of disrepair over time. It was noted for storing old vehicles, including rare Royal Mail carts and included many things from the 60’s and 70’s left to decay.

I suspect that the site was used for some other business purposes as well by what we found such as many different company names and hints linking to this.

The site was acquired by developer Chesterfield Bruce Smith in 2012, and applications were submitted for conversion. These were denied, and again denied in 2015.

How to Foam Roll the Spine | Chesterfield Chiropractor

In this video, we cover how to foam roll the spine. Foam rolling is something that is done commonly. However, we believe that a little education on proper technique is warranted.

We recommend to stick to the thoracic spine when foam rolling. In addition, we recommend to foam roll in a way that helps ‘reverse’ your static posture. For example, those that have an increase of thoracic kyphosis (rounding of upper and mid back) would do well to foam roll into extension. On the flip side, those with flatter upper backs (ie some overhead athletes) need to bias flexion. Lastly, most of us would do well to include rotation.

When foam rolling for extension, we recommend ‘hinging’ your spine over the foam roller in a reverse crunch fashion. Try to include breathing when possible. To include the arms, simply extend on the foam roll while moving your arms into flexion. This helps drive more extension as well as improve Lat extensibility.

For flexion, we recommend cradling the head into neck flexion and to round your spine as you work the foam roll up and down.

For rotation, you can gently twist your thoracic spine while cradling your head. However, we prefer to use the arms in an open book fashion.

Not sure which direction to foam roll into? Call us today to schedule a consultation (636) 7288607. For those that aren’t local to us, we can help find a like minded provider in your area!

How to Properly Activate the Core | Chesterfield Chiropractor

In this video, we go over how to activate the core as it pertains to Dynamic Neuromuscular Stabilization (DNS). To properly activate the core, we need to create what is called “intra abdominal pressure” or IAP for short. IAP is created by using the diaphragm. To learn how to breathe with the diaphragm, click below:

https://youtu.be/mn8OHjGIIY

One misconception is that the core equates to the abs. This is only partly true. The core is actually a 3dimensional container with the front wall being made up of the rectus abdominis, which is what most people think of when they picture the abs. The other walls of the abdomen are just as important and include the obliques, diaphragm, pelvic floor, and lower back musculature. A well functioning core will be able to contract each wall TOGETHER to build good stiffness in the mid section.

Some tips:
1: create expansion below the belly button
2. keep the ribs and pelvis centered (the patient in this video needs some work here)
3. take shallow or abbreviated breathes when keeping expansion. This is only temporary and should last the length of an exercise
4. create some abdominal stiffness and breathe into it (like breathing into a corset). We also like the que of wearing a size 32″ belt and making it 34″. This helps the patient envision 360 degrees of expansion.
5. most of our movements should feel like it stems from the core. Its main job is to transfer energy to our limbs.
6. create as much IAP as needed for the activity. For instance, maxing out on a deadlift should require 100% IAP. On the other hand, stepping down off of a curb should require much less.

This should absolutely be factored into all movement, not just exercise. As stated in the video, we feel that the problem isn’t always a weak core but rather a core timing issue. In other words, some people have a hard time stabilizing when they need to. This ultimately leads to lower back injuries with simple tasks like bending over or lifting a toilet seat.

Suboccipital Stretch for Neck Pain and Headaches | Chesterfield Chiropractor

The suboccipital muscles are often involved in neck pain and tension headaches. In this video, Dr. Chris Collier goes over a static stretch for the suboccipital muscles.

The suboccipital muscle group involves the rectus capitis posterior major, rectus capitis posterior minor, obliquus capitis superior, and obliquus capitis inferior. Their primary action involves extension and rotation of the head.

Remember, it is important to facilitate a GENTLE stretch. Once the stretch is felt, try and hold for a count of 2030 seconds.’

Exercise for Spine Mobility | Thoracic Open Books | Chesterfield Chiropractor

A Thoracic Open Book is a great exercise for spine mobility. It helps create thoracic rotation while kicking the pelvis and lumbar spine in a fixated positions. There are several variations to this exercise that can include the shoulder joint as well diaphragm breathing. This is a great exercise to do on a daily basis to help loosen up a stiff mid to upper back.

Key Time Stamps:

0:15 Great exercise for thoracic and rib cage mobility
0:35 Use a foam roll to support the bottom leg
0:58 Use the bottom hand to pin the top leg to the foam roller
1:10 Variation 1: Top hand begin the head
1:30 KEY POINT: Do not force the motion

Floating Boardwalk Marsh Trail at Dodd Park, Chesterfield, Virginia

The R. Garland Dodd Park is a local park administered by Chesterfield County, Virginia. It is located near Point of Rocks, the confluence of the Appomattox and James Rivers, between Chester and Hopewell, just south of Richmond. The Point of Rocks area is rich with Civil War history and is a fantastic study for Civil War buffs. Numerous signs within the park depict detailed information about the various campaigns as well as the important political and military figures from each side. I’m visiting the park today to explore the marsh along Ashton Creek, where a floating boardwalk and bridge allow you to walk out into the marsh. It’s a very short hike, but full of interesting sights and sounds. Thanks for watching!

  1. You're way to happy to be here lass, it's nice until you meet the neeks of Chesterfield and the kids carrying knives, you really gotta watch your back if you're from certain backgrounds, if you're a rich bastard then you'll be fine no one even wants to talk to you then

  2. I just love a good farmers market. Woah so many great booths. I always get my honey from the farmers market and try to go every week for all my vegetables.

  3. Ohhh we miss england. Thank you for taking us to your lovely walk. Love the markets and Primark hehe. Continue to share some lovely trips. From your new friends from Belgium xoxo Jacky and The Wifey 👫

  4. Each country is like a Lucky Dip. Staying close to home during Covid has enabled many to discover gems close to home. I love seeing places through other peoples' eyes. One of my favourite things when in another town is just like you Bonny, seeing the markets and the people. Those cans with plants for instance. Funny how that looks different elsewhere. You did wrap up warm, was it a chilly day? As always, yummy food as well. Just a little comment. Maybe move the camera a bit slower when panning and keep to one direction in a shot not from left to right and to left again. It's quite an art isn't it to get it right? 👍🎥🌷🙋‍♀️Thanks for sharing your day.

  5. Seems there went something wrong with your intro, audio and clips of two different intros mixed. The markets are less fun nowadays with Covid, you can't really freely check the stands easily anymore with the fences, but it is what it is. What a coincidence he was from Nottingham as well.
