It's very refreshing to view your helpful experiences! Old architect* here, who remembers how such things as "renderings" were farmed-out to artists. We called such things " eyewash" 🙂
*like many, remembering the joys of lead-on-vellum. Go ahead, laff 🙂 MicroStation came along ('80?, for me), & "push-button" architecture became the way. A LOT of otherwise good eyesight became lost for that, & Designers seemed to have gotten FATTER, for always sitting & staring at screens.
I still think the best designs originate from pencil-on-envelope-backs. Something about the glide of a #2 pencil that seems to make magic happen easiest. No license to buy, no gizmo to turn on, & one's mind can focus on Design rather than which button to push 🙂
Difficult to do detail drawings in real life like window or doors details. More Engineering or drafting skills then designing etc. see standard graphics. In USA, 5 years to do drafting instead of designing.
Would you recommend using a student version of Revit or Auto CAD in a professional environment?, (the only difference I see, Student Versus Professional licensed version, is the stamp when you print/output, that can be removed using Adobe), is there any other difference?
Hi thanks for your video, very inspiring. I have a question how Revit can work with other applications. Suppose my partner works with SkectUp or other applications?
Hello Balkan, great video. Very informative. I'm not really good at Revit but I do have question. I find Revit not an easy software to do complex modelling. To do fluidic and organic shapes in particular. 90° shapes and certain angular members are easy though. So how can you solve this? Do you do the complex shapes in some other software and later import it to Revit and add details? Or is it very frustrating? Is Revit a good option for product design? Especially for modelling furniture. Please share your thoughts. Thanks
Yes this was extremely informative. As someone else mentioned, another video or videos on other "student vs real-life" would be greatly appreciated. Loving your videos.
Please Post a Complete project (small house Exterior Design) I have a problem with setting up the material. Some of the materials I want is not working I add them and it will not work..
I used to be builder, studies Architects as well. too much modelling in revit for nothing.you only need floor plan, 4 elevation plan, 1 section, 1 site plan. maybe a 3 D.
Ok, I undestand your point, but is not possible to achieve a level in revit that you be able to do cool shapes with good construction details ? If it is so difficult to achieve a good level o fidelity, what softwares large architecture firms use to do those amazing buildings ? Catia (like gehry)?
So i don't understand what they use to teach in your schools. In Europe professors care much less about the shape and more about the reality of the design. Beautiful, yes but also close to reality.
Very important to work in a non-destructive and consistent manner in terms of standards, naming and process when working in a team or sharing a model, but still probably a good way to work as a student also.
I am currently a student using revit and when i tried to use it for execution plans i faced a problem… When i had to export to cad the lines format where aia format so where can we find the ncs layers or maybe do them in revit?
Nice video, i think than my work mode in revit ever was the professional mode in my projects on school, ever searched do very similar with the professional architecture. What not is hard, in Brasil the most part architects are very carefree with quality in your projects.

I think your Papa would agree 🙂
Also students don’t have to pay $2,500 a year for a license.
from my experience there's no easy way, just need to sit down and learn the most marketable programs. Revit and Autocad

Здраво Балкан,
хвала на напорном раду и одличном садржају. Можете ли уплоадовати више видео са конструкцијским инжењерингом и детаљима.
So i don't understand what they use to teach in your schools. In Europe professors care much less about the shape and more about the reality of the design. Beautiful, yes but also close to reality.
I want to work with you sir. How can i contact you?
+1 for Phasing, Design Options and View Templates

Your videos are always so interesting
Hey! Can you make a playlist with an "architects revit" videos? It would be useful! I really like your videos!!
I am currently a student using revit and when i tried to use it for execution plans i faced a problem… When i had to export to cad the lines format where aia format so where can we find the ncs layers or maybe do them in revit?
100% accurate. I wish I had spent more time learning how to use phasing and design option sets while in school.
You are the best, bonne continuation
Good comparison, especially considering you are still so young.
Thank you for your video
You made a mistake in the title of this video "…vs Reivt for Architect" !
Thank you sir….for giving answer to my question that what is difference in revit in practicle world.
Great talk!
Where's the link to the videos that work in real life..??. Thanks for your valuable videos
Revit for Engineers (BIM) 😎😎
I always knew that renderdd plans and photoshop touches are all unneccessary and are just to satisfy the proffesors
I'm asking you again, a tutorial on site and road on terrain, please.
On behalf of the universe I thank you for your videos.
Yes, and so in most cases Revit for students is not BIM.
can you please make more videos with "architects revit" stuff that you talked about?
Nice video, i think than my work mode in revit ever was the professional mode in my projects on school, ever searched do very similar with the professional architecture. What not is hard, in Brasil the most part architects are very carefree with quality in your projects.
Thanks for your videos! So useful….
